Phonia was bought as a broodmare from Holland in 2006. She has competed to Advanced Medium level dressage in Holland, and as a result of this was awarded the prestigious Keur predicate. Her bloodlines are exceptional as she is a direct daughter of the great Nimmerdor, KWPN Stallion of the Century. This makes her somewhat of a rarity as there are not many remaining Nimmerdor direct daughters based in the UK. She has had four exceptional foals during her broodmare career, and is dam to Ettonia, who scored the highest overall score of all horses in the BEF Futurity series 2009.

Nimmerdor, her sire is by the illustrious 'keur' stallion Farn, whose influence on Dutch breeding in general is deeply felt, which together with his contribution to the sport, is demonstrated by his high place in the stallion jumping index. Nimmerdor's dam is 'ster’ Ramonaa. She is a daughter of the thoroughbred Koridon xx and her dam is Friedhilde II who was sired by the reputable Senator, while her lineage also includes Ulfried. 

During his performance test in 1975 Nimmerdor left no doubt as to his particular specialty; jumping. Preferent Nimmerdor was ridden at international level by Albert Voorn with whom he jumped in various world cups and made an impressive appearance at several important international competitions in for example Berlin, Paris, Gothenburg, Dortmund and London. Nimmerdor was invited to go to the Los Angeles Olympics but his owners declined as they considered it more important at the time that he devoted himself to his breeding activities. Nimmerdor is holding second place in the Dutch jumping index and breeds with a very high degree of heredity reliability [94%]. He is rated very highly in the WBFSH ranking. His progeny have excellent breeding results.

Phonia's dam, Wonia, is a prolific broodmare in Holland, and has acheived the Ster, Preferant and Prestatie predicates. She is dam to seven Ster or Keur horses, a number of whom are competing at Advanced level dressage and some at Grade A showjumping.
