2010 Foaling Season
The 2010 foaling season is now underway, and we have installed a third camera in the broodmare yard to aid us at this busy time of the season. We have already had a lovely chestnut colt from a visiting mare, and Dashing Doris has foaled down a beautiful bay filly. The next five ladies are patiently waiting until the foals decide to make an arrival.
Wild Romance - Competition News
Wild Romance and Ann Taylor were double clear in both of their jumping classes at Weston Lawns on Sunday 28th March. This promising young mare was 2nd in the 90cm class at her third ever show, but we were most thrilled with her ability and aptitude.
AI Technician Course
Nicola attended the AI Training course provided by Equine Reproduction (UK) Ltd and is now a fully DEFRA approved AI technician. The three day, complete equine reproduction short course involved lectures by Jos Mottershead of Equine-Reproduction.com as well as valuable practical sessions with veterinary surgeons. The course was intensive, but highly enjoyable and informative - highly recommended!

BEF Awards Dinner 2010
Sam and Nicola were proud to attend the Breeders' Awards Dinner at London's Grange City Hotel, this year organised by the British Horse Foundation. We were recipients of three awards, Phonia VS was leading broodmare 2008-2009, and leading broodmare overall, and Ettonia was the highest scoring equine across all sections in 2009.
2010 KWPN Stallion Show
Sam and Nicola both took the journey to Holland for the 2010 KWPN Stallion Show in February. This event is always an excellent showcase of top European horses, and this year was no different. The quality of the colts presenting for licencing was amazing, but the highlight had to be seeing Moorlands Totilas and his sire, the great, late Gribaldi at what was to be his final public appearance.
UK KWPN Keuring 2009
The Stud also attended the KWPN Midlands Keuring with a selection of foals. Ettonia (Carolus II x Nimmerdor) scored 74 to become Midlands Champion of the Showjumping section, and Eydon (Jazz x Flemmingh) was Champion Filly (and overall Reserve Champion) of the Dressage section with a score of 71. The Dutch inspectors were very impressed with the paces and conformation of all foals.
BEF Futurity Series 2009
Wrestow Stud has had a very successful 2009 season. Foals and youngstock from the stud were entered in the BEF Futurity classes, where we are proud to report that Ettonia (Carolus II x Nimmerdor) achieved the overall top score across all the disciplines and age groups. The chestnut filly scored 9.61 in the show jumping section at the Solihull venue, but she is not the only high flyer from the stud as 2 Elite Premiums and 3 First Premiums were among the total haul from Wrestow.
2009 Foal Crop
We've had a successful foaling season, with all mares foaled safely and a crop of healthy foals on the ground. Most of these competition bred youngsters will be offered for sale after weaning, although we may retain one or two for the stud. 2009 foals are by top stallions, including Jazz and Carolus II.
