Wrestow Stud - Livery and Mare Boarding

We have limited availability for broodmares and youndstock to come and stay with us at Wrestow Stud. As we are based on a 1,300 acre farm, there is plenty of room for the stock to run out during the summer months. We have stabling available for foaling mares, horses being prepared for grading and injured animals, and we are currently putting in a new indoor school (18 X 36) to be used for loose schooling/ lunging and breaking in the youngsters. We also plan for a new stable block to be installed next to the school. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your livery requirements. A vet package is available for foaling mares and mare insemination.

During the winter months (November til April) all horses are kept in straw yards with ad lib haylage. Mares are kept together in small groups, and youngsters are kept in their age groups. Weanling foals of both genders are kept together, and from the yearling year, colts/geldings are separated from the fillies and mares. We find that this regime works extremely well and is a good way of keeping horses - the young animals are socialised and are not exposed to the worst of the weather, and the broodmares do very well on the ad lib haylage in a natural herd situation.
